To celebrate my 50th birthday this year, I thought it might be fun to recreate the classic Batman 1966 TV show opening credits – with a twist! I’m a big fan of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. So I thought – what if in an alternate reality, Arrow And The Flash were the main characters in the show instead of Batman and Robin? With the magic of Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, and Photoshop and a Wacom tablet, I set out to recreate the opening sequence. And here it is!
“In the Earth-66 Multiverse, The Arrow TV show premiered in 1966 instead of Batman. With his super friends The Flash, Supergirl, and The Legends; Arrow fights crime in Star City against several nefarious foes and bases his operation in the Arrow Cave. Watch his crime-fighting adventures every Wednesday night – same Arrow-Time, same Arrow-Channel!”
The updated music was composed by Mike Schmidt. I asked him to use elements of the original theme, but add a bit of the Arrowverse music into the mix. And he delivered!
The “Arrow-66” logo was created by the great Jeff Tasca. His rendition of the original Batman-66 logo is perfect. Jeff also helped me out with some tips and trick with Illustrator since I was new to the program.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the original Batman-66 intro and my Arrow-66 video:
